Sunderland v MK Dons

FST Predicts: 1-0 Sunderland

After a rotten end to 2019-20 Sunderland look like they mean business as they attempt to justify pre-season favouritism. Phil Parkinson’s side have lost just one of ten Sky Bet League One games – against fellow powerhouses Portsmouth – and it’s best to ignore back-to-back cup defeats; promotion is this club’s only goal.

They should be too strong for the Dons, but the Milton Keynes side have at least steadied the ship since a dire start conceding only two goals in their last four so we expect them to make the Mackems work for the win.

Hull v Burton Albion

FST Predicts: 2-1 Hull

Burton are off the bottom of Sky Bet League One thanks to a 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury, but we’re struggling to give them much of a chance at high-flying Hull. The Brewers haven’t won in nine in the league and haven’t kept a clean sheet since February.

Grant McCann’s Hull have won seven out of ten in their quest to go straight back up again and they should get over the line against Burton, though they don’t deal in hammerings so this could be close.

Crewe v Peterborough

FST Predicts: 1-0 Peterborough

Peterborough head for Gresty Road as the Sky Bet League One leaders with promoted Crewe down in 18th. But if there is one distinction these sides share it’s number of goals conceded – nine each.

Crewe might be struggling but they clearly aren’t getting battered week in, week out and we wouldn’t be in the slightest bit surprised if Posh win 1-0 – Alex have already suffered five 1-0 defeats in their opening ten games.

Northampton v Accrington

FST Predicts: 2-1 Accrington

If Accrington were to win all their games in hand they would actually jump up to second spot in Sky Bet League One. Okay, that’s almost certainly not going to happen but they can add three more points to their tally by winning at Northampton.

One of only two sides to beat Peterborough in the league this season, they can ease past a Northampton team still reeling from FA Cup humiliation at the hands of Oxford City

Bristol Rovers v Fleetwood

FST Predicts: 0-0 draw

Rovers have won only once at home in the league this season, Fleetwood just once away so it’s a struggle to muster much enthusiasm for either of these inconsistent Sky Bet League One outfits.

The draw, however, and the 0-0 draw at that, makes plenty of sense. The last three meetings between these sides have all ended in no-score draws so you can’t say you haven’t been told.

Bradford v Exeter

FST Predicts: 2-2 draw

No Sky Bet League Two side is in better form than Exeter – they are unbeaten in nine in the league – and we certainly don’t see them losing at Valley Parade.

Bradford City were well-fancied this season but once again they are finding this section a real challenge. The Bantams have won only three times and those victories came against Stevenage, Mansfield and Southend who make up the basement’s bottom four. They did draw against Forest Green, however, and since Exeter have drawn five of their six away matches, expect another stalemate.
